Hacking software helps to improve, update and further develop software security systems. The act of tracking or tracing violations would improve and further help apprehension and prosecution of violators.
There is no question that we need laws to protect copyrights, but we have to be careful with these laws. If laws become too stringent, two things can happen:
1) Developers will become discouraged for fear of violating the DMCA and new software won't be developed.
2) Hackers will continue to do everything they can to get around these laws to illegally access software.
